Yes. Dr Chaw-Su Kyi is on the GDC specialist register for orthodontics, which means several years of full-time training beyond a dental degree. A general dentist offering Invisalign has not completed that training. Dr Kyi personally reviews and adjusts every treatment plan, tooth by tooth.
Your specialist consultation is £195 for adults and £95 for children. Treatment fees depend on your case and are quoted in writing before you commit to anything. Every quote is all-inclusive - scans, appointments and your retainers - with no hidden costs.

Yes, from age six. Dr Kyi has a particular interest in early treatment and offers Invisalign First, Invisalign Teen and fixed braces. We will also tell you honestly when it is better to wait and simply monitor your child's development.

Most Invisalign cases take between six and eighteen months, and fixed braces around twelve to eighteen. Dr Kyi will give you a realistic timeframe at your consultation, based on your scan rather than an estimate.
If you are enquiring about Invisalign, you will have a free 30-minute iTero Lumina scan with an Orthodontic Therapist and see a preview of your result. For all other orthodontic treatments, you will go straight to an hour-long consultation with Dr Kyi.
Each patient’s orthodontic needs are unique, and the best treatment will depend on your specific dental issues, lifestyle, and preferences. During your initial consultation, Dr Kyi will assess factors such as the severity of your misalignment, dental health, and your aesthetic goals, and may suggest options like fixed braces or clear aligners such as Invisalign. Discussion about lifestyle considerations, such as how much visibility you are comfortable with during treatment, can also influence which method suits you.
Orthodontic treatments may cause discomfort initially or after adjustments, or when you first start wearing them. Fixed braces can cause soreness as you adjust to the pressure. Clear aligners like Invisalign may cause mild discomfort as they shift your teeth into position. However, these sensations generally subside within a few days as your mouth gets used to the appliances. Over-the-counter pain relief can manage any discomfort.
After completing your orthodontic treatment, it’s common to feel a sense of relief and excitement about your new smile. However, retention is important to maintain the results. Retainers prevent teeth from shifting back to their original positions. The duration you’ll need to wear a retainer varies, and following your orthodontist’s recommendations is crucial to enjoy your straight smile for years to come.
Orthodontists recommend evaluating children by age seven as their permanent teeth begin emerging. Early evaluation doesn’t always mean immediate braces but helps monitor jaw development and identify potential issues. Interceptive treatment can start earlier to guide teeth into proper alignment and prevent severe problems later. The exact timing depends on your child’s unique dental structure and growth patterns. Consulting with a paediatric orthodontist ensures the best plan for a healthy, straight smile.
We go through your medical history and anything you have had done before, then take a proper look at your teeth, gums and bite. You may need an X-ray if something is hiding below the surface. Whatever we find, you get it in plain language, along with the options and the costs, before anything is booked in.
It depends on your mouth. National guidance allows anywhere between three months and two years, so rather than putting everyone on the same six-month cycle, we agree an interval with you. A healthy mouth with no history of decay can safely go longer. Gum disease, a lot of existing fillings or smoking all shorten it.
Ring us rather than waiting to see whether it settles - pain that comes and goes still usually means something is wrong. We keep time aside for urgent problems and will see you the same day where we can. If you have facial swelling, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing, treat that as an emergency and get seen straight away.
The dose from a dental X-ray is very small, comparable to a few days of the background radiation you are exposed to anyway. We use digital sensors, which need less exposure than old film, and we only take an image when it will genuinely change what we do. For most adults that works out at every one to two years.
Tell us before you sit down, not after. We can talk through everything before we start, agree a signal for you to stop us at any point, book you a longer appointment so nothing feels rushed, or put you in the first slot of the day so you are not sitting in the waiting room building up to it.
A dental emergency covers severe or persistent toothache, swelling in the face, jaw or gums, knocked-out or broken teeth, uncontrollable bleeding, dental abscesses or signs of infection, sudden trauma to the teeth or jaw, and lost fillings, crowns or appliances causing discomfort. If you’re unsure whether your issue counts, call us — our team will offer guidance and help you decide the next best step.
