Care above everything else

We always do the right thing even when no-one is looking.

Every practice has values. What matters is whether you can feel them from the moment you walk through the door.

Ours come down to a few things. That everyone deserves to feel cared for. Not just the confident patient, not just the easy appointment, but the nervous adult, the eight-year-old who does not want to be here, and the parent quietly wondering whether treatment is really needed at all. That care begins with listening: before we advise, we understand. And that we should only ever recommend treatment we would choose for our own families, which sometimes means telling you to wait, or that you do not need us yet.

It is why families stay with us between treatments. Alongside specialist orthodontics we look after check-ups, hygiene appointments and airflow polishing, children’s dentistry, and cosmetic and restorative work, with the same team whether you are two years into treatment or in twice a year for a clean.

Questions
for us?

Is Dr Kyi a specialist orthodontist?+

Yes. Dr Chaw-Su Kyi is on the GDC specialist register for orthodontics, which means several years of full-time training beyond a dental degree. A general dentist offering Invisalign has not completed that training. Dr Kyi personally reviews and adjusts every treatment plan, tooth by tooth.

How much does treatment cost?+

Your specialist consultation is £195 for adults and £95 for children. Treatment fees depend on your case and are quoted in writing before you commit to anything. Every quote is all-inclusive - scans, appointments and your retainers - with no hidden costs.

Can I spread the cost?+

Yes. We offer 0% interest-free finance over 12 months through Tabeo, with an initial deposit, subject to status. Laura, our Treatment Coordinator, will walk you through the options on your follow-up call.

Do you treat children?+

Yes, from age six. Dr Kyi has a particular interest in early treatment and offers Invisalign First, Invisalign Teen and fixed braces. We will also tell you honestly when it is better to wait and simply monitor your child's development.

Where exactly are you?+

89 Hammersmith Grove, London W6 0NQ. We are on the parade of independent shops on Hammersmith Grove, a few minutes north of the main shopping area and the station.

Can I be seen after school or work?+

We are open Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and we are used to working around the school day. Let us know what suits you and we will find the closest fit we can.

How long will my treatment take?+

Most Invisalign cases take between six and eighteen months, and fixed braces around twelve to eighteen. Dr Kyi will give you a realistic timeframe at your consultation, based on your scan rather than an estimate.

What does the free Invisalign consultation include?+

If you are enquiring about Invisalign, you will have a free 30-minute iTero Lumina scan with an Orthodontic Therapist and see a preview of your result. For all other orthodontic treatments, you will go straight to an hour-long consultation with Dr Kyi.

How do I know which orthodontic treatment is right for me?+

Each patient’s orthodontic needs are unique, and the best treatment will depend on your specific dental issues, lifestyle, and preferences. During your initial consultation, Dr Kyi will assess factors such as the severity of your misalignment, dental health, and your aesthetic goals, and may suggest options like fixed braces or clear aligners such as Invisalign. Discussion about lifestyle considerations, such as how much visibility you are comfortable with during treatment, can also influence which method suits you.

What should I expect in terms of discomfort or pain with different treatments?+

Orthodontic treatments may cause discomfort initially or after adjustments, or when you first start wearing them. Fixed braces can cause soreness as you adjust to the pressure. Clear aligners like Invisalign may cause mild discomfort as they shift your teeth into position. However, these sensations generally subside within a few days as your mouth gets used to the appliances. Over-the-counter pain relief can manage any discomfort.

What long-term effects can I expect after finishing my orthodontic treatment?+

After completing your orthodontic treatment, it’s common to feel a sense of relief and excitement about your new smile. However, retention is important to maintain the results. Retainers prevent teeth from shifting back to their original positions. The duration you’ll need to wear a retainer varies, and following your orthodontist’s recommendations is crucial to enjoy your straight smile for years to come.

What age is ideal for braces in children?+

Orthodontists recommend evaluating children by age seven as their permanent teeth begin emerging. Early evaluation doesn’t always mean immediate braces but helps monitor jaw development and identify potential issues. Interceptive treatment can start earlier to guide teeth into proper alignment and prevent severe problems later. The exact timing depends on your child’s unique dental structure and growth patterns. Consulting with a paediatric orthodontist ensures the best plan for a healthy, straight smile.

What happens at a first visit?+

We go through your medical history and anything you have had done before, then take a proper look at your teeth, gums and bite. You may need an X-ray if something is hiding below the surface. Whatever we find, you get it in plain language, along with the options and the costs, before anything is booked in.

How often do I actually need a check-up?+

It depends on your mouth. National guidance allows anywhere between three months and two years, so rather than putting everyone on the same six-month cycle, we agree an interval with you. A healthy mouth with no history of decay can safely go longer. Gum disease, a lot of existing fillings or smoking all shorten it.

A tooth has started hurting. What do I do?+

Ring us rather than waiting to see whether it settles - pain that comes and goes still usually means something is wrong. We keep time aside for urgent problems and will see you the same day where we can. If you have facial swelling, or any difficulty swallowing or breathing, treat that as an emergency and get seen straight away.

Are dental X-rays safe, and how often will I need them?+

The dose from a dental X-ray is very small, comparable to a few days of the background radiation you are exposed to anyway. We use digital sensors, which need less exposure than old film, and we only take an image when it will genuinely change what we do. For most adults that works out at every one to two years.

I am nervous about coming in. Can you help?+

Tell us before you sit down, not after. We can talk through everything before we start, agree a signal for you to stop us at any point, book you a longer appointment so nothing feels rushed, or put you in the first slot of the day so you are not sitting in the waiting room building up to it.

What counts as a dental emergency?+

A dental emergency covers severe or persistent toothache, swelling in the face, jaw or gums, knocked-out or broken teeth, uncontrollable bleeding, dental abscesses or signs of infection, sudden trauma to the teeth or jaw, and lost fillings, crowns or appliances causing discomfort. If you’re unsure whether your issue counts, call us — our team will offer guidance and help you decide the next best step.
